The Vision Behind Mundo Tango
My name is Scott, and I’ve been thinking about Mundo Tango since at least 2016. Tango has been an integral part of my life for many years, and my journey has taken me through nearly every corner of the tango ecosystem. I’ve danced for over 17 years, organizing events, teaching, DJing, and connecting with tango communities across the globe. I have also worked for many tech startups out of San Francisco and Boston so I'm familiar with the technologies and expertise needed. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges we face as a global community.
Why Mundo Tango?
Over the years, as I’ve traveled the world for tango—dancing in milongas, creating events, and talking with friends in different communities—I kept hearing the same frustrations. Many of us rely on social media platforms that don’t truly support our needs as a community. These platforms weren’t built for tango—for the way we interact, organize events, or preserve the rich culture and history of this dance. And yet, we remain on them—not because they’re effective, but because we don’t have a better option.
That’s why I started Mundo Tango: to create something better.
This isn’t just another app. Mundo Tango is the result of countless hours of conversations with friends and fellow tango enthusiasts from all over the world. Together, we’ve dreamed of a platform designed specifically for our needs—one that honors the culture of tango while providing tools for connection, growth, and celebration.
